The Farnborough Airshow is the highlight of the year in the Aerospace and Defence Industry. With over 1400 companies exhibiting, around 150,000 industry experts and hundreds of public enthusiasts attending over the course of the week, it provides an excellent opportunity to truly understand the dynamic marketplace and meet the industry’s key players.

The Airshow provided a fantastic opportunity to secure deals and finalize Defence budgets for the Eximius Technical team. HSBC’s Global Community Partnership Day

HSBC’s Global Community Partnership Day

HSBC’s Global Community Partnership Day took place on the 25th June 2010, organised by staff and volunteers to integrate with local communities. HSBC partnered with Holy Cross School for a CV and Careers advice day. Following an introductory talk by HSBC on the history of the global company, Jairo Ouko from Eximius Group coordinated CV workshops, interactive interview sessions and offered invaluable career advice to the students.

The students were divided into groups of 6 and performed role plays throughout each session. Take-home information cards produced by Eximius Group also offered key pointers of CV writing and Interview techniques.

Jairo reported that the students were incredibly enthusiastic and receptive to improving their CVs. He comments: “I felt absolutely privileged to be able to assist these talented young ladies with their CVs which will have a direct benefit to them in securing future work. The day was a complete success and I will be putting myself forward to participate next year”.

Each team including Jairo’s desk within Eximius IT, has invited a total of 10 students to come for work experience during the summer holidays.

JP Morgan Chase Corporate Challenge

On Tuesday 6th July, 29 members of Eximius Group took part in the 5.6Km ‘JP Morgan Chase Corporate Challenge 2010’. Eximius Group were among the 26,000 runners that took part in the event. In its 34th year, the event was spread over two nights where 289 companies went head to head. Not only were the runners representing their company but also in support of 95.8 Capital FM’s ‘Help a London Child’ charity.

The sea of branded t-shirts, nerves, excitement, teamwork and competition contributed to the buzzing ambiance. Once the race started, it was only a matter of minutes before Colin Norris from Eximius Technical crossed the finishing line. Colin was placed 19th overall winner completing the course in only 19.33 minutes. Colin comments:

“It was a scorcher. Perhaps not conducive to fast running times but plenty of smiley faces in the crowd. Although a relatively flat course it was deceptively tough with the sun beating down, especially along the river front! The last 2KM was a killer, especially when a pensioner strolled past me in the last 10 metres! Determined looks were strewn across the runners’ faces, when a charity run turned seriously competitive. Our team was impressive with 8 runners under the 25min mark.”

Eximius Group has without doubt set a fantastic benchmark for next year with three Eximius Group members of staff achieving places in the Top 50 ranking. Congratulations to all those who participated.
